A Registered General Nurse since 1994 with NHS experience working primarily in secondary care settings. Possesses excellent clinical skills with in-depth urological awareness. Previously lead and managed a complex team for over 8 years during role as Ward Manager in Urology, successfully integrating differing specialities into one cohesive ward team. He was also seconded to implement the unique bespoke position of Lead Nurse for Education and Quality with a responsibility for the educational needs and quality agenda of 10 surgical wards, totalling in excess of 600 staff. In November 2016, Tony took the Lead Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist position, working to develop a newly expanding team of Urology Clinical Nurse Specialists to deliver support and provision to patients with Urological Cancers, and has now expanded this role to develop as a Urology Advanced Nurse Practitioner, incorporating new innovations, such as a pioneering Kidney Stone Specialist Nurse and Nurse Cystoscopist, to the nurse led Urological services within the department.
Tony has exponentially developed his skills to meet the physical and mental demands of his previous and current posts, working at all times within National and Trust protocols and policies.
Tony also works as a sign-off mentor for student nurses, has successfully completed the Advanced Life Support course on three occasions and was asked to be a trainer on the course. He is also acting as an assessor for a Critical Care Module, Acute Life Threatening Illness Recognition and Treatment course facilitator, Acute Illness Management course facilitator and has taught a degree module in urological nursing as well as facilitated on the Health Assessment Course at Level 6 and 7.
He has completed a BSc (Hons) in Clinical Practice in September 2015, and is currently studying for a Level 7 Master’s Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, successfully achieving qualifications in Non-Medical Independent Prescribing and Health Assessment.
