Cheryl Mckain is an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner with a specialist background in emergency medicine and trauma and orthopaedics. She qualified as a registered nurse in 2012 and began her career in emergency care in 2013. Cheryl progressed through senior clinical roles, including Charge Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and currently works as an ACP within an Accident and Emergency department.
Cheryl has significant experience in assessing, managing, and treating a wide range of acute and undifferentiated conditions. Her clinical expertise includes resuscitation, emergency triage, mental health assessment, diagnostic interpretation, and prescribing. She has also worked extensively in trauma and orthopaedics, managing patients with complex injuries and conditions.
In addition to her clinical work, Cheryl is actively involved in healthcare education and simulation-based training. She has written and delivered clinical teaching programmes for nursing staff and contributes to simulation training for junior doctors. Her academic work includes a master’s dissertation exploring the use of convolutional neural networks in triaging acute coronary syndromes in the emergency setting.
