A registered general nurse whose clinical experience has spanned 18 years and multiple nursing disciplines. Qualified in 2003, she started her career in the world-renowned St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London working in breast care oncology. From there she moved to gynaecology oncology and cardiology at The London Chest Hospital. In 2004 the decision was made to move to accident and emergency where she worked in another flagship London hospital; St Georges NHS trust.

Her career has been varied and this has offered her an abundance of opportunity as she has worked in numerous NHS trusts across the UK. This has enabled her to be part of several multi-disciplinary teams and observe how different departments operate within different trusts.

Her specialist area of clinical interest has been emergency medicine and acute medicine where she has built several skills including triage, managing an acutely unwell patient and working in the resuscitation area of accident and emergency. During this lengthy career in emergency medicine, she also developed skills in recognising early signs of sepsis, liaising with outside agencies and gaining valuable experience breaking bad news and supporting families in crisis.

Other areas of expertise include nursing in a walk-in-centre, prescribing from patient group directives under supervision, assessing patients with minor illness and minor injury, working as the safeguarding lead for children at the walk-in-centre and making appropriate clinical referrals.

She is currently working in Urgent Care Centres doing Triage, directing patients to appropriate health services and managing acutely unwell patients accordingly. She has experience of working in Urgent Care centres based in hospitals as well as working in satellite units.
