Clinical specialty is tissue viability across all care sectors and has a professional background of clinical and managerial experience supporting a comprehensive understanding of nursing practice and hospital and community healthcare provision. With over 40 years’ experience in the NHS her clinical experience spans emergency care, medicine, orthopaedics and nursing homes.

As a registered general nurse, Maureen maintains her NMC registration. Having 14 years’ experience working at a senior trust nurse level responsible for implementing and evaluating high standards of tissue viability practice and research implementation. More recently, Maureen was employed as a university senior lecturer/programme leader teaching all members of the multidisciplinary team.

Prepared expert reports on behalf of Claimant and Defendant regarding adult Claimants with a range of injuries including complex orthopaedic, spinal, brain injury and amputees. Has attended Court and numerous legal case conferences. Has achieved accredited Expert Witness status through the Cardiff University/Bond Solon programme; training in the medico-legal process and understands her role and responsibilities as an expert witness under The Civil Procedure Rules. Maintaining my clinical expertise by working as a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission, her continuing professional development by providing education, publishing, reviewing for several tissue viability and general nursing journals, involvement with several tissue viability focused UK and international organisations and reviews of Trust tissue viability services.
