Michael Southworth is an HCPC-registered Paramedic with experience since 2011 in frontline ambulance service practice, 999 control rooms, urgent care centres, air ambulance services, and humanitarian & disaster medicine. He specialises in the range of paramedic practice within the ambulance service, including assessment, treatment, discharge, and destination triage.
Alongside his active frontline clinical roles, Michael has contributed to national clinical practice guidelines, co-authored a textbook chapter on pre-hospital paramedic practice, and serves as a specialist advisor for the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Michael is educated to master's level with an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, has completed the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care (DipIMC) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is currently working towards the Fellowship in Immediate Medical Care (FIMC). He is an experienced course director for Advanced Life Support and Advanced Paediatric Life Support courses.
In 2024, Michael founded Lynas Clinical Safety Limited, which provides expert guidance and governance support to ambulance services and pre-hospital care providers. He currently serves as Director and Clinical Lead.
As an expert witness with AMG Consultancy Services since 2022, providing Breach of Duty and Screening reports for both Claimant and Defendant cases.
