Rachael is an experienced Chartered Physiotherapist, having qualified in 1993, with extensive experience across NHS, private and third-sector clinical practice. She is a specialist musculoskeletal practitioner with a broad clinical background encompassing A&E, Orthopaedics and Rheumatology. She holds a master’s level qualification in Rheumatological Care from Keele University, where she also worked as a lecturer on the undergraduate Physiotherapy degree programme.
During the early COVID-19 pandemic, Rachael returned to the acute NHS setting, supporting the respiratory care and rehabilitation of patients on acute medical and orthopaedic wards. She continues to maintain a small clinical caseload alongside her current role as Head of Clinical Professionalism, ensuring that her clinical knowledge and skills remain current and informed by contemporary practice.
Rachael has considerable experience in professional leadership and education. Her term serving on the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Council provided further opportunities to develop her skills in professional representation, public speaking and communication, including presentations at conferences and engagement with the media.
Rachael completed her Bond Solon Expert Witness training in September 2020 and refreshed and repeated this training in 2025. She undertakes regular medico-legal education, including masterclasses and updates through AMG Medico Legal and the Medico-Legal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. She has extensive experience preparing medico-legal reports and providing expert opinion in personal injury and clinical negligence claims.
Rachael is able to provide expert opinion in relation to breach of duty, quantum, rehabilitation and care needs. Her work includes consideration of whether the standard of physiotherapy care provided was appropriate, as well as recommendations for physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation following alleged or proven clinical negligence or personal injury. She is experienced in considering the impact of injury on an individual’s functional ability, rehabilitation requirements and longer-term care needs.
